Moments of great excitement and suspense were experienced during the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Mexico presented by GNP Seguros. A total of 37 riders secured their spot to participate in this Grand Prix. The course design for the Grand Prix was very challenging. Canadian course designer Peter Grant created a course with a total of 14 obstacles and 17 jumps. The line of obstacle 12, a triple bar, and the double 13 a and 13 b were the most challenging part of the course.

Only 5 riders managed to complete a faultless round, of which 2 were Mexican: Carlos Hank Guerreiro and José Alberto Martínez Vázquez. Spanish rider Eduardo Álvarez Aznar and his magnificent nineteen-year-old horse, "Rokfeller de Pleville Bois Margot," were the first pair to face the jump-off, giving their all to set a very fast round. However, a knockdown at oxer number three prevented them from finishing with a clear round. The Mexicans were not very lucky in the jump-off. José Alberto Martínez Vázquez finished with three knockdowns, while Carlos Hank Guerreiro had 2 knockdowns.

After the first three pairs went to the jump-off, it became a game of strategy. Considering that there were no clear rounds, Belgian rider Nicola Philippaerts decided to go for a jump-off without risking much to ensure a faultless round. The Belgian's strategy paid off, and he finished with a clear round in a time of 45.03 seconds. Luiz Felipe Cortizo Gonçalves De Azevedo Filho from Brazil also chose not to take risks and secured second place with a very conservative round completed faultlessly in a time of 48.51 seconds.

Philippaerts was very excited about the affection of the Mexican audience and the great job done by his mare "H&M Luna van't Ruytershof". The rider shared that this is the first victory he has with his mare in a Grand Prix of this caliber. It is worth mentioning that in the top 10 of the Grand Prix, there were 3 Mexican riders: Carlos Hank Guerreiro (fourth place), José Alberto Martínez Vázquez (fifth place), and Manuel González Dufrane (eighth place).

Mexican rider Ana Sofía Legorreta and her mare "Yoga Santa Rosa" emerged as the undisputed winners of the El Palacio de Hierro Trophy. This event was the Grand Prix of the CSI 2* series with a height of 1.45 meters. Only 6 of the 48 pairs that participated managed to advance to the jump-off.
