Official presentation of the Maeza International Show Jumping Competition, a solidarity and reference event in the equestrian calendar
17 Jun 2025The official presentation of the 5th Maeza International Show Jumping Competition (CSI Maeza), which will be held from July 4 to 6 at the facilities of the Finca Maeza Stud Farm, in Sariego (Asturias), was held this morning. The event brought together the media, local authorities and sponsors, who learned first-hand the details of this eagerly awaited equestrian event.
Cruz Maestre, director of the stud farm, welcomed the attendees and announced that this edition will once again have a strong charitable character. The funds raised from ticket sales will go entirely to the Asturian Association of Equestrian Therapies and the animal protection organization Masquechuchos. Tickets are already available on the official website of the event (www.csimaeza.com) and can also be purchased at the box office during the days of the competition.
Álvaro Arrieta, president of Oxer Sport, highlighted the sporting level of this edition, which will have a remarkable national and international representation. Among the Spanish riders there are several names that aspire to represent Spain according to the long list published this week by the RFHE, in the next European Championship to be held just two weeks after the CSI Maeza. Among them: Mariano Martínez Bastida, Armando Trapote, Iván Serrano, Álvaro González de Zárate, Teresa Blázquez Abascal, José Bono, Hugo Álvarez Amaro and Julio Arias.
Also participating will be outstanding riders such as Ismael García Roque, Santiago Nuñez Riva, Imma Roquet, Kevin González de Zárate, who complete a powerful national line-up.
As for the international participation, the competition will have representatives of 18 nationalities. Leading figures of the European circuit such as the Belgian brothers Thibault and Anthony Philippaerts, the Dutch Eric van der Vleuten or the young Irish talent Michael G. Duffy have already confirmed their presence.
The CSI Maeza will once again feature the Mancomunidad de la Sidra Trophy for the best Spanish rider in Sunday's Grand Prix, as well as the Sariego Town Hall Trophy for the best under-25 rider, in which a total of 23 promising young riders will compete out of a total of 90 participating riders.
During his speech, the Mayor of Sariego, Saúl Bastián, showed his support to the event and reaffirmed the commitment of the City Council with the sporting event: “From the City Council we have the doors wide open to collaborate with you”, he declared.
The presentation day concluded with an aperitif and a toast with Foncueva cider, with which the attendees celebrated the start of a new edition of this consolidated equestrian event.
The event will be sponsored by Air Europa, and brands such as Grupo Eulen, CaixaBank, Oquendo, Ascor, Artiem, BMW Autosa and Sidra Foncueva will repeat their support. RTPA, ClipMyHorse.TV and Onda Cero will also join as media partners.
