MADRID IN MOTION KICKS OFF THE 2026 SEASON WITH A NEW SPANISH SIGNING

12 Feb 2026

The Global Champions League will kick off next March, with its first leg in Doha, and the new team line-ups for the 2026 season have already been announced.

For Madrid in Motion, a team sponsored by Marqués de Riscal, Massimo Dutti, and Van Mossel, this season marks the arrival of a rider with extensive experience on the GCL circuit, although it will be his debut with the “home” team. Spanish rider Sergio Álvarez Moya joins Madrid in Motion, the Spanish team competing in the Global Champions League (GCL), for the first time.

The rest of the line-up remains unchanged, reinforcing the continuity and strength of the project. The team veterans from the very beginning, Madrid-born Eduardo Álvarez Aznar (ESP) and three-time Olympic medalist Maikel van der Vleuten (NED), remain as key pillars of Madrid in Motion.

The U25 rider will continue to be British rider Jack Whitaker, while Victor Bettendorf (LUX) and Kim Emmen (NED), who joined last season, will also stay on the team.

Meanwhile, Sergio Álvarez Moya approaches this new chapter with great enthusiasm:

"I am really looking forward to getting started, and I’m very happy to be part of Madrid in Motion for several reasons. We are a very like-minded group, and on top of that, it’s the team that represents Spain. My horses are in great form and ready to contribute to the team. In recent years, they were still too young for this level of competition, but I believe this year we are ready to complement the team and help as much as possible. My first show with Madrid in Motion will be in Shanghai, and I am approaching it with great excitement."

All team members enter this new season with enthusiasm and ambition, ready to compete at the highest level in a new edition of the Global Champions League.
