The 2026 National Show Jumping League held its third leg this weekend in Santander, at the Club Heras Horses & Events facilities, where more than 250 horses gathered to compete in the CSN5 Heras Cantabria Deporte. The event concluded with the two classes counting towards the League standings: the Verisure Grand Prix for the Silver League and the Cantabria Deporte Grand Prix for the Gold League.

The Verisure Grand Prix saw a victory for the Basque Country, thanks to a young rider: Diego Azofra. The rider from Álava claimed the win over a 1.40-metre course after a jump-off featuring nine combinations. Riding Highlight AS, he completed the decisive round clear in 38.04 seconds. Just six hundredths of a second separated him from the experienced Iván Serrano, who finished second aboard Hit Rock de Bornival Z. Third place also went to a double clear round, with Felipe Villanueva riding Herria de Soule.

The Cantabria Deporte Grand Prix for the Gold League was contested over a demanding 1.50-metre track, with only four combinations managing to complete the first round without penalties. Victory went to the overwhelming favourite, Olympic rider Eduardo Álvarez Aznar. Riding Giovanni St Germain, Álvarez Aznar produced a faultless jump-off round and posted the fastest time, finishing ahead of Iván Serrano, who once again claimed second place, this time aboard E Pleasure Beaufour. Reigning Spanish Champion Álvaro González de Zárate finished third after incurring two rails with Hermes de L’O.

Following the Heras leg, Inés Hernández Yanguas, from Valladolid, has moved into the lead of the Gold League provisional standings with 91 points, ahead of Alfons Roquet on 71 points and Pello Elorduy on 70.

In the Silver League, another female rider tops the standings. Paula Azofra, Diego Azofra’s mother, leads the rankings with 83.5 points, followed by Iván Serrano with 77 and Carlota Olaizola with 68. The next leg of the National Show Jumping League will take place in Gijón from 14 to 16 August.
