Sariego (Asturias), 5 July 2026

The sixth edition of the CSI3* Maeza, held at Yeguada Finca Maeza in Sariego, concluded in spectacular fashion with victory for French rider Olivier Robert in the Grand Prix. Riding Iglesias D.V., Robert produced two faultless rounds to claim the title.

The Maeza Grand Prix brought the 2026 edition of the CSI3* Yeguada Finca Maeza to a close with a jump-off featuring four combinations. Experience proved decisive as one of France's leading riders, Olivier Robert, delivered a clear round in 44.10 seconds aboard Iglesias D.V. after entering the arena last. His performance was enough to overtake Japan's Olympian Eiken Sato, who finished runner-up with Campai 3 in a time of 46.03 seconds.

The other two riders to qualify for the jump-off were Spain's Javier González Fraga and Eduardo Álvarez Aznar. Both incurred a single rail down in the decisive round. González Fraga finished third aboard Sonic JGF in 41.44 seconds, while Álvarez Aznar, who lowered the final fence of the jump-off with Qevita Vd Bisschop, placed fourth in 75.07 seconds.

Another Spanish rider, the young Pablo Valle, also jumped clear in the first round with Capucine du Marais, but two time penalties for exceeding the time allowed prevented him from qualifying for the jump-off. He ultimately finished fifth.

Following the Grand Prix, the prize-giving ceremony took place, with Olivier Robert receiving the winner's trophy from Cruz Maestre, Director of Yeguada Finca Maeza. She was joined by Christina Bares and Estanislao Fuentes, representing Yeguada Finca Maeza, together with Álvaro Arrieta, President of Oxer Sport.

The ceremony provided a fitting conclusion to a competition whose highlight was an outstanding and fiercely contested Maeza Grand Prix.

Foncueva Trophy

The opening class of Sunday's programme was the Foncueva Natural Cider Trophy, a two-phase competition over 1.25m fences featuring 32 combinations.

Pedro Mansur of the Netherlands, winner of the previous two days' classes aboard Away Semilly, quickly moved into the lead. This time, however, the talented young Dutch rider faced strong competition from the Spanish contingent and ultimately had to settle for third place.

Victory went to Celia Cobo Terán of Heras Horses & Events, who once again demonstrated her trademark speed aboard Etincelle de Saint'A. The young Cantabrian rider was the only competitor to complete the second phase in under 19 seconds. Galicia's Javier González Fraga finished second with Queen SCS, just 0.24 seconds ahead of Pedro Mansur.

The trophy was presented to Celia Cobo by Celedonio Foncueva Berros, General Manager of Sidra Foncueva.

Oquendo Trophy

The intermediate class of the day, the Oquendo Trophy, was a 1.40m speed competition that attracted a large field and ended with victory for Italy's Luca Moneta, one of the standout riders of the show.

Among the 81 starters, 24 produced faultless rounds. Moneta recorded the fastest clear aboard Knock Out, finishing ahead of Spain's Eduardo Álvarez Aznar with Giovanni St Germain. France's Aurélien Leroy completed the podium in third place riding Histoire de Kerser.

The trophy was presented to Luca Moneta by Juan Díaz Rodríguez, CEO of Cafés Oquendo, accompanied by Christina Bares of Yeguada Finca Maeza and Álvaro Arrieta, President of Oxer Sport.

Additional Awards

During the final Grand Prix prize-giving ceremony, several special awards were also presented.

The Mayor of Sariego, Saúl Bastián, presented the Sariego Town Council Trophy to the best Under-25 rider. The award went to Dutch Children rider Pedro Mansur, who also received a voucher for a watercolour painting by artist Maite Romero. The prize was collected on his behalf by his coach, Eiken Sato, and presented by Sofía Zarzuelo, one of Asturias' promising young riders.

The Cider Region Trophy for the best Spanish-bred horse in the Maeza Grand Prix was awarded to Sonic JGF. Its rider and breeder, Javier González Fraga, received a €1,000 cheque from Juan Antonio González Peláez, President of the Cider Region Association, together with a commemorative plaque, a wildcard entry for the Spanish National Horse Championships to be held during the ANCADES Final in September, and a voucher for a watercolour painting by Maite Romero, presented by Cruz Maestre.

During the Grand Prix, the event also presented its solidarity donations, funded through ticket sales. The contributions were received by Joni Salguero Salazar and Jairo Cantón Llera on behalf of Asociación Raitana, Blanca Rodríguez representing Asociación Más que Chuchos, and Kety Vives from the Asturian School of Equine Therapies.
