All-Spanish Podium in the Casas Novas Grand Prix, Brilliantly Won by Iván Serrano

12 Jul 2026

Iván Serrano was the outstanding winner of the Casas Novas Grand Prix, the Marqués de Riscal Trophy, the highlight class of CSI4* A Coruña 2026. The Basque rider and Rain Man claimed victory in the jump-off of the 1.60m class with a spectacular performance, producing a superb round to secure an emphatic win.

Last Friday, they claimed victory in the first major class of the CSI4* A Coruña 2026, the CaixaBank Trophy, and wrapped up the competition by winning the highlight of the third day, a top-level Grand Prix. The class was decided in a jump-off for which 15 horse-and-rider combinations qualified, with only five producing a second clear round. Among them, Iván Serrano and Rain Man stood out with a remarkable time of 40.58 seconds, well ahead of the rest of the field.

The fearless rider from Bizkaia, who is based at Yeguada del Pas in Cantabria and brings a wealth of experience to the sport, together with his veteran partner Rain Man, attacked the jump-off as though it were a much less demanding class. Their bold approach paid off perfectly, producing an unbeatable time.

The Casas Novas Grand Prix podium was an all-Spanish affair, with Bautista Rodríguez Debray finishing second aboard Vivoulette HD in 43.56 seconds, while Pilar Lucrecia Cordón took third place with Pica Pica Z in 44.69 seconds.

The other two double-clear performances came from Maikel van der Vleuten, who finished fourth with Jesther in 48.08 seconds, and another Spanish combination, Carlos López-Fanjul Tartiere and Jourdain VDL, who placed fifth in 49.06 seconds.

The closing ceremony of the CSI A Coruña 2026 Summer Edition culminated with the presentation of prizes for the Casas Novas Grand Prix. Iván Serrano received the winner's trophy from Flora Pérez. Serrano was also presented with the Marqués de Riscal Trophy by Verónica Fernández de Córdoba, member of the company's Board of Directors. Both were joined by Álvaro Arrieta, President of Oxer Sport.

Prosegur Security Trophy

The penultimate class of the show was the Prosegur Security Trophy, a speed class run under Table C rules, where each rail down incurs a four-second penalty added to the rider's time. In a class that rewards outright speed, Emanuele Gaudiano started as the clear favourite—and he lived up to expectations.

The Italian rider gave his rivals no chance from start to finish, maintaining an impressive gallop throughout the course aboard Vasco 118 to stop the clock in 56.82 seconds. Colombia's Santiago Díaz Ortega finished second with Chasspleen Flamingo Z, crossing the line in 57.54 seconds.

Third place went to Marlon Modolo Zanotelli, the Brazilian rider who had gone head-to-head with Gaudiano in both CSI4* classes on Saturday. Riding Rockwell RC, he completed the course in 58.31 seconds. Two Spanish riders followed in the standings: Pello Elorduy aboard Champenoise de Rampán and Julio Arias with Sienna de Brandegem.

At the prize-giving ceremony, winner Emanuele Gaudiano received the Prosegur Security Trophy from Javier Martín Azcano, Director of the Central Region at Prosegur Security, accompanied by Álvaro Arrieta, President of Oxer Sport.
