Passion, speed, and Mexican pride define Saturday’s competition at the Longines Global Champions Tour Mexico
18 Apr 2026The passion for horses, speed, and pure excitement filled the air this Saturday at the Longines Global Champions Tour, presented by GNP Mexico Jumping, at the iconic Campo Marte. The day was packed with outstanding sporting moments and cultural expressions, culminating in a thrilling victory for Mexico’s Eugenio Garza in the Banorte Trophy.
Campo Marte erupts: Eugenio Garza claims the Banorte Trophy
The most anticipated moment of the day came at 3:50 p.m. with the start of the Banorte Trophy, a CSI 5* jump off class featuring 1.50 meter obstacles, with 45 horse and rider combinations taking on a demanding course designed by Mexican course designer Anderson Lima.
The first goal was to qualify for the jump off, something 14 riders achieved, including Mexicans Eugenio Garza and Nicolás Pizarro. It was Garza who shone when it mattered most: riding his stallion Chalouries PS, he delivered a flawless jump off round in 36.55 seconds, a time no one could beat.
The crowd reacted instantly. Campo Marte roared in response to the hometown rider’s performance, with the tension building until the very end as the remaining competitors tried to top his mark. But no one succeeded. Ireland’s Cian O'Connor finished second aboard Genghis Khan in 37.44 seconds, while France’s Simon Delestre took third with Olga van de Kruishoeve in 37.51 seconds.
Speed and precision in the GNP Seguros Trophy
The GNP Seguros Trophy brought together 18 horse and rider combinations in a CSI 5* speed class over 1.45 meter obstacles. Of those, eleven completed the course without penalties.
Victory went to Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano aboard Nikolaj de Music, stopping the clock at 61.29 seconds. Mexico’s Arturo Parada Vallejo claimed second place riding Valento, while Belgium’s Niels Bruynseels completed the podium in third.
