Maikel Van der Vleuten to the Rescue for the Netherlands

Madrid, September 16, 2026.

Maikel Van der Vleuten will compete this weekend in Saint-Tropez, at Haras de Gassin, Polo Club Saint-Tropez, the last venue of the League of Nations before the final, which will take place in Barcelona during the first weekend of October.

The Dutch rider returns to the team after several months away to strengthen the Netherlands’ chances ahead of the Barcelona final. The Dutch team currently sits in last place and needs to score points to avoid missing out on the event.

The rider will compete with Jesther and Quastor vd Heffinck, two strong options with which he will be looking to secure a good result.

The other members of the Dutch team will be Bas Moerings, Sanne Thijssen and Roelof Bril.
