On Sunday, the Longines Global Champions Tour presented by GNP México Jumping came to a spectacular close at Campo Marte, leaving Mexican fans deeply moved. This prestigious event brought together the world’s best riders, including several Olympic medalists, in a showcase of skill, speed, and precision.

The standout performer of the day was Italy’s Piergiorgio Bucci, who claimed victory in the event’s most important class: the Longines Global Champions Tour Mexico Grand Prix presented by GNP Seguros. With this win, Bucci became only the second Italian rider to capture this coveted Grand Prix title.

Italy shines once again in the Mexico Grand Prix

The Longines Global Champions Tour Mexico Grand Prix presented by GNP Seguros was filled with moments of high tension and excitement. A total of 40 riders qualified for this demanding class, with a course designed by Mexican course designer Anderson Lima that tested the ability of every competitor.

Only 11 riders managed to complete the course without faults, including just one Mexican rider: Eugenio Garza. As the last to go, Garza seemed on his way to victory after beating the Italian’s time; however, a rail down at the final fence with his horse Contago cost him the win.

In the end, Piergiorgio Bucci secured the championship for Italy aboard Pallieter vd N. Ranch, posting a jump off time of 43.68 seconds. Germany’s Katrin Eckermann came close as she looked to repeat her triumph following her victory in Miami, finishing second with Iron Dames Dialou Blue PS. Third place went to France’s Simon Delestre, who aboard Golden Boy DK attempted to better Eckermann’s time but fell just short.

Following the Grand Prix, an emotional civic military ceremony took place, featuring a performance of the Mexican National Anthem by the Defense Symphony Orchestra, accompanied by Leonardo Aguilar and the Ollin Yoliztli Children’s Choir.
