The team ready for a new season

Following last year's strategy, the teams will continue to be made up of 6 members while the league will be formed by 16 teams.

After the hangover experienced after getting on the podium for the second year in a row, this time with third place in the GC Playoffs in Prague in November, Madrid in Motion returns strongly for a new season without much news.

Following last year's strategy, the teams will continue to be made up of 6 members while the league will be formed by 16 teams.

Madrid in Motion can boast of having several of the best riders in the world and after demonstrating last season the successful team they are, the team and its committee have decided to keep the talent and continue with their 6 riders.

Eduardo Álvarez Aznar (36) - Spanish Olympic rider, currently occupies the 38th position of the Longines FEI Ranking. He has participated in Olympic Games, World Championships, World Equestrian Games and European Championships. There are great possibilities for Eduardo to represent Spain at the next Tokyo Olympics. His Rokfeller horse from Pleville Bois Margot "Rocky" will be his best weapon this season but also his SF Seringat and his 9 years old Legend.

Maikel van der Vleuten (32) - This Dutch rider can claim to have gained lots of medals in the top competitions. Winning a silver medal by teams in the London Olympic Games, gold in the last World Championships and gold in the 2015 European Championship. After the unbeatable year 2019 with numerous victories in Grand Prix 5* he currently reaches the 12th place of Longines FEI ranking. He comes to retire his star horse Verdi TN, but has hard artillery such as his 10 years Beauville Z and the KWPN Dana Blue.

Eric van der Vleuten (57) - Father of Maikel and with great international experience, Eric has participated in World Championships, in European Championships and in seven World Cup finals. During a great season he has dedicated himself to training riders and even the Spanish team. Two years ago he returned to high competition and is already getting great results with Wunschkind 19 and Djoost Again.

Mark Mcauley (33) - This Irishman, based in France, was awarded in 2017 with the “Rookie of the Year” award for his good results. He was a member of the gold-winning team at the Gothenburg European Championship and in 2018 he participated in the final of the World Cup in Paris with his 15-year-old SWB grey horse Miebello. For this year Mark hopes to achieve great results with Jasco vd Bisschop. He currently ranks 65th in the Longines FEI Ranking.

Michael G Duffy (24) - This Irishman represents the rider “under 25” of the team. He began competing internationally at the age of 16 at the CSI2 * level and represented Ireland for the first time in 2013 during the CSIO Junior of Hagen, finishing second in the Grand Prix. Months later he participated in his first European Championship. Since 2015, Michael was a regular of the Irish team in the European Championship, winning the gold in the European Championship of Young Riders of Millstreet in 2016 and bronze in 2015.

Cindy Van der Straten (38) - The only woman on the team, was a member of the Belgian team in several Nations Cups. During the 2013/14 season, Cindy moved away from the competition to be the mother of a child. This year will be his fourth season in the Global Champions League where he already debuted in 2017 with the Berlin Lions and, in 2018, he was part of the Hamburg Giants team.

A great team that counts, once again, with the support of Massimo Dutti and Marqués de Riscal as official sponsors.
