Madrid in Motion starts their engines in Doha

The first venue of the Global Champions League 2020 has served as the initiation and warm up for the team sponsored by Massimo Dutti and Marqués de Riscal, Madrid in Motion

This Thursday the 16 teams commenced the first qualifier with a 1.55m course designed by Frank Rothenberger. Madrid in Motion didn’t have as much luck with the starting order, they were the first ones to compete. Specifically, Eduardo Álvarez Aznar opened the competition riding “Legend”, a 9-year-old that finished with a pole down and 4 points. Consequently, Maikel Van der Vleuten and “Dana Blue”, now with a reference of the course, managed to finish with the round with no faults. Although 8 teams completed the first round without any accumulated points, which made it difficult for Madrid in Motion on Saturday.

On the second round celebrated this morning, things have resulted to be quite trickier for the riders and horses. Only two teams, London Knights and Paris Panthers have had another double clear positioning themselves automatically as leaders of the provisional standing.

Madrid in Motion, again represented by the two riders, with a bronze medal in Prague Playoffs in November 2019, added 8 additional points. One pole down in the last fence of the triple combination for “Legend” and another one from “Dana Blue” in the pool jump has pushed them back to the 11th place of the qualification.

With this results the team has room to improve although even with the faults, there’s been a good sensation. A weekend to start the teams engines and put the horses on perfect conditions for the next venue which will have place in Ciudad de Mexico during the 26th and 29th of March.
