A new GCL season has finally kicked off after a worldwide lockdown year. The first leg of the calendar has taken place in the spectacular facilities of Al Shaqab in Doha. The 16th teams have done a really good job in an exciting two days of competition in which finally Valkenswaard United leads the ranking with unbeatable performances.

Madrid in Motion also started with a magnificent course. Eduardo Álvarez Aznar and the Irish Mark Mcauley where in charge of representing the team sponsored by Marqués de Riscal and Massimo Dutti.

In the first round, held on Thurday 4th of March, Madrid in Motion looked serious from the word go with Eduardo Alvarez Aznar and Rokfeller de Pleville Bois Margot going fast and clear. Mark Mcauley showed his experience and piloted Jasco VD Bisschop round for just one down leaving the team mid field in 7th place.

Yesterday 6th of March it was the turn for the second and decisive round. Th previous GCL Super Cup winners Madrid In Motion knew they had a good opportunity to start the season on a high note and kept their team exactly the same as last year. Eduardo Alvarez Aznar shook his head as he exited the arena on Rokfeller de Pleville Bois Margot, the team now on 8 faults leaving the door open for other teams to take the podium. Mark McAuley and Jasco vd Bisschop pulled out all the stops to finish clear but it was too late, and they had to settle for 8th place.

Now Europe is suffering a new lockdown in the equestrian world due to EHV-1. We really hope to see our team competing soon in the GCL Madrid scheduled for May 21t -23th.
