LONGINES GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR KICKS OFF IN MADRID

Tomorrow starts in Madrid what will be the fifth venue of the Longines Global Champions Tour.

Everything is ready for the 109thedition of the International Showjumping Contest of Madrid, that is celebrated every year around these dates in the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.

Today, all the participating horses, about 220, where put through the obliged vet check, which occurred without any noticeable incidents.

The CSI5* riders also had the chance to test, during the warm up, the traditional green arena that will inaugurate the event tomorrow at 9.00 in the morning with Ifema MHW Trophy, the first of the four CSI2* classes that garnish this Friday, followed by Iberdrola Trophy and Air Europa Trophy, with 1.40m height.

In the afternoon, at 6.15pm, will begin the first Global Champions League competition, for now dominated by Shanghai Swans, St. Tropez Pirates and Monaco Aces teams. Local team Madrid in Motion will take off with 57 total points and holding the 10thplace in the ranking.

Amongst the 230 riders we would enjoy these three days of intense competition are the Germans Daniel Deusser or Marcus Ehning, the winner of last edition Ben Maher, the Australian rider Edwina Tops Alexander or the Swedish Peder Fredricson, second in the Longines Ranking FEI.

Representing Spain in the CSI5* will be Eduardo Álvarez Aznar, Sergio Álvarez Moya Gerardo Menéndez and Santiago Núñez Riva.

Tomorrow more than 85,000€ in prizes will be given.
