The twenty-first edition of the International Show Jumping Competition of Santander has been officially presented this morning at the event's facilities located in the field of the Palacio de la Magdalena.

The event chaired by the Mayoress of Santander Gema Igual has also had institutional presence of the Government of Cantabria, Mario Iglesias Director General of Sport, Ministry of Universities, Equality, Culture and Sport of the Government of Cantabria and the Director General of Tourism, Marta Barca; Celia Torío, Commercial Director of Caixabank in Cantabria and Asturias; the President of Oxer Sport Alvaro Arrieta and the rider Ivan Serrano. The mayoress wanted to highlight "the importance of the event, which thanks to Oxer Sport is already part of a circuit that seeks to promote the Cantabrian Sea in summer" and also highlighted the importance of horse riding for the city of Santander thanks to the media coverage "the media talks about Santander. Gema Igual has had a special memory for José Manuel Riancho, who was Sports Councilor of the City Council that died in 2019 "José Manuel was very proud and always concerned about the International Show Jumping Competition. Oxer Sport has commented to me that the first class of the event, from now on, will always bear his name. This is something important for the City Council, a decision not taken by us but which is more than applauded." He has also had words of thanks for the sponsors and institutions "without which it would not be possible to have this category of appointment with this category of awards in Santander".

She has was thrilled with the occupancy data of Santander hotels scheduled for this weekend "We are almost 100% occupancy, some hotels only have a free room. We haven't had these percentages for a long time and this is thanks to Oxer Sport and the Santander International Show Jumping Competition."

To conclude he wanted to send a message to the public encouraging them to come to the stands of the free access contest and where "all measures will be implemented against covid. We have to start leaving fears behind in a responsible manner".

The commercial director of Caixabank, Celie Toría, official sponsor of the main event of the Caixabank Grand Prix event, has remarked "the effort and the union of all as key to get out of the slump and we can be here again presenting one of the most traditional events of the entire calendar and responsible for kicking off the summer season". The Cantabrian rider Ivan Serrano, currently number 9 in the national ranking, wanted to emphasize how "special this sport is, where there is no distinction of gender or age. Finally, Álvaro Arrieta, President of Oxer Sport, insisted on the effort that the event has meant after a complicated year due to the covid-19 and the subsequent equine pandemic that paralyzed the equestrian competition throughout Europe. At the same time, he showed affection for the competition, which he defined as "a special competition that Pablo Gracía, general director, and I carry in our hearts. It is where we started to build this dream that today is Oxer Sport, the origin of everything".
