Kevin González de Zárate unbeatable in the Government of Cantabria Trophy

The facilities of the competition were full on this second day, in which an emotional tribute was paid to Alfredo Bringas, a man who was very close to the competition and who passed away recently.

The Government of Cantabria Trophy concluded an exciting day of competition that has seen its stands full since early in the morning. The rider from Spain, Kevin González de Zárate, brought the audience to their feet with his two fantastic rides that no other rider managed to improve in the 1.40m high class. Disputed under a scale in which the best riders went to a second round, the rider from Alava has shown in his line, competitive and resounding with Conthargos Rouge.

Kevin is one step away from making history at the CSI Santander. If he manages to win tomorrow in the Caixabank Grand Prix relocated to 12.00 am, he would be the first rider to achieve a triple victory in the main event of this traditional event.

Also magnificent was the rider Rocío Lázaro who, despite the pressure of competing in last position and riding the young Infamia del Amor, managed to place second in the ranking. In third place came the rider sponsored by Suzuki and Canalsa Iván Serrano, who, as expected, tried his best until the end, but in the end was almost two seconds behind Kevin. It is the first time that his mare Coloma is competing in an international competition.

The rest of the classes have been a "déjà vu". Same winners in both the 1.20m and 1.30m tests as yesterday.

The rider from Madrid, Luis Márquez, returned to sentence the 1.30m class, Palibex Trophy, with Viace Houston DH for the second consecutive day with a clean ride and the score impossible to beat, 62'91 seconds, more than 3 seconds ahead of the next classified.

The second place remained at home thanks to the good performance of the Cantabrian Laura Diez Collado and her horse Veroney de Walyro, a horse that the crowd always enjoys to see jumping.

It was not an easy class. 26 riders competed in this Palibex trophy and only 8 finished without accumulating faults. Of them, the third fastest was yesterday's winner of the Suzuki Trophy, the Frenchman Olivier Camy Sarthy, this time with Empire de Soule, a young 7 year old horse.

In the Caser Seguros Trophy at 1.20m Alejandro Álvarez has also remained at the top. The Asturian and Little Chap S led yesterday and again today with a result difficult to beat, 0 points and 57'45 seconds. More than 3 seconds behind the second classified Alejandro Entrecanales and his Blubel des Brimbelles.

The third classified also took a prize yesterday. Elena Gandia and Double R Miracle are doing an impressive competition after the rider had been retired for some time due to an operation.

Fantastic atmosphere, lots of entertainment with betting and ponies for the little ones and a sky that has accompanied us throughout the day.

Tomorrow, due to the expected weather conditions, the organizing committee has decided that the main class of the event, the Caixabank Grand Prix, will be held at 12.00 am. Betting will be open. This will be followed by the 1.20m race, the Frigo Trophy, at 15.30h and, as a finishing touch, at 17.15h, we will enjoy the Oquendo Trophy at 1.30m.

For those who can not follow the competition in person, will be able to watch all the classes through the ClipMyHorse.tv channel (www.clipmyhorse.tv).
