Santander once again becomes the epicenter of the international equestrian world with the celebration of the XXI Santander International Show Jumping Competition to be held on June 25th, 26th and 27th at the Palacio de la Magdalena arena.

Tomorrow, Friday, June 25, will kick off the twenty-first edition of the CSI Santander, which on this occasion will host a total of nine tests among which will be distributed 45,000 euros in prizes.

This competition marks the inauguration of the summer sport season 2021, a special year in which the international competition is resumed in Cantabria after a year's hiatus caused by the covid 19.

More than 60 top riders will compete in this traditional and exclusive competition, one of the most beautiful and special of the national calendar. Among them many members of the Spanish national team as the youth Alejandro Álvarez Gutiérrez, Irene Alonso Vázquez, the Cantabrian Silvia Diego Pardo or Ignacio Rico Santiago; Among the adults, the local rider Iván Serrano, José Bono, Gerardo Menéndez or the two-time winner of the Caixabank Grand Prix Kevin González de Zárate will be the most outstanding absolute riders who, alongside names such as the rider Teresa Blázquez, Javier López Aróstegui, Alejandro Entrecanales or José Fumero, will set the bar at the highest level.

International representation will be provided by countries such as France, Finland and Mexico. The French rider Alexandre Boudarel, one of the most regular faces in the first editions of the CSI Santander will be back to jump on the campa de la Magdalena after almost a year and a half without participating in international competitions.

Tomorrow at 12.00h will start the opening class, Trofeo Canalsa, dedicated to the memory of José Manuel Riancho. The former sports councilor of the City Council who passed away just a few months ago always showed his maximum involvement and dedication to CSI Santander. Next, the 1.20m class, Santander City Hall Trophy, will take place and lastly, the Suzuki Trophy with jumps at 1.40m will conclude the day.

On Sunday, the highlight of the weekend will be the Gran Premio Caixabank, which will put the finishing touches to an exciting weekend with the finest international equestrian show jumping

Entertainment for the whole family

Not everything will be competition this weekend in Santander. The public will have the doors open to also enjoy the best gastronomic selection offered in the food trucks area while cheering on their favorite rider, on whom they can place their bets through the traditional betting booth.

The little ones will have a great time receiving their equestrian baptism thanks to the most entertaining ponies that on this occasion are back with the help of Caixabank.
