Asturias dominates in the opening competition of the Cider Region Trophy

Start of the first edition of the International Show Jumping Competition of Maeza with an entirely Asturian podium. The youth rider, member of the national team at the Nations Cup in Hagen in Germany, Alejandro Alvarez Gutierrez, maintains his streak leading the first class of the day, a class sponsored by the Cider Shire that has marked the start of the event that will last until Sunday July 11.

The young Asturian and his 11-year-old Hanoverian horse, Little Chap S, finished their 1.25m course in 55.37 seconds, a few hundredths faster than his compatriot Pablo Santiago Artime. The winning pair came from winning two of the three days of the Santander International Show Jumping last weekend. In second place, very competitive, finished Pablo Santiago Artime riding Brisa de Montemeao. The rider, bronze medalist of the Spanish Children's Championship in 2020, came out a few horses before his biggest rival. Until that moment, the rider from Avilés, Olivia Álvarez, was leading the race, but the Forcón rider stopped the scoreboard without faults and more than 2 seconds below the 58.08 of Olivia, who finally had to settle for the third place.

Mr. Aitor García Corte, President of the Mancomunidad Comarca de la Sidra, Mrs. Cruz Maestre, Director of Finca Maeza Stud and Mr. Álvaro Arrieta, President of Oxer Sport were responsible for presenting the trophy to the three winners of the class.
