New victory for Alejandro Álvarez Gutiérrez in the CSI2* Maeza. The Asturian rider won the Ecuestre Trophy once again with Little Chap S, with which he was already the winner on Friday in the Ascor Trophy. This morning's victory is his fourth out of four consecutive rides in the last week. In the CSI Santander he competed two days and won both. In this CSI Maeza repeats the success. Excellent progression of the young Asturian from Hípica Porceyo and student of Gerardo Menéndez.
Together with the very fast Little Chap S, they went out to compete in the last positions of the starting order. Until that moment, the Galician Roi Calviño, winner of yesterday's SER Radio Asturias Trophy, was leading the 1.25m class ridden under a time barometer of A chrono. Ángela González Muñoz, the young Mexican who is having an unbeatable competition with almost daily podium, managed to lower Roi's time by more than 3 seconds. But Alejandro was missing, the main rival and candidate to win the trophy sculpted by José de la Riera. A brilliant clear class of this pair closed the scoreboard in 58.89 seconds, three seconds less than the Mexican, fulminating the stopwatch. With two horses still to compete, the classification was indisputable. First Alejandro Álvarez Gutiérrez, second Roi Calviño riding Julieta del Amor and third Ángela González with Caijo.
Once again, a 100% Spanish podium in the starting test of the last day of competition of this first weekend of the I CSI Maeza.
Next, the Oquendo Trophy will take place with a height of 1.35 and 48 riders participating and, at 17.00h, the main competition of the weekend will start, the Grand Prix Maeza, a competition that counts towards the Longines FEI ranking -world ranking- which can be followed live and commented in Spanish by the expert Javier de Wit through the equestrian channel clipmyhorse.tv.
