Everything is ready for the start of the Longines Global Champions Tour 115 CSI Madrid
14 May 2026The Longines Global Champions Tour 115 CSI Madrid gets underway tomorrow at the Real Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, where all preparations are progressing as planned. Earlier today, the participating horses successfully passed the veterinary inspection, a mandatory procedure confirming their fitness to compete throughout the weekend while ensuring their health and welfare.
This year’s CSI Madrid brings together a total of 142 riders, 216 horses and representatives from 28 countries.
This afternoon, the traditional warm-up session is taking place, with close to one hundred horses completing a short course to familiarize themselves with the iconic grass arena of the Real Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, internationally renowned for its technical quality and rich equestrian heritage.
Competition officially begins tomorrow, Friday, from 09:00 with the CSI1* classes, featuring the Real Club de Campo Villa de Madrid Trophies at heights of 1.15m and 1.25m. This will be followed by the Fundación Madrid Horse Week Trophy, contested over 1.40m fences.
The CSI5* action will take centre stage in the afternoon. At 15:00, the Mahou Trophy will be held, featuring courses up to 1.60m and the participation of the circuit’s leading individual riders. Afterwards, the two rounds of the Marqués de Riscal Trophy, corresponding to the Global Champions League (GCL), will take place, with all 17 teams competing in the championship.
Both the Mahou Trophy and the first round of the Marqués de Riscal Trophy will serve as qualifiers for Sunday’s Grand Prix. These demanding classes, featuring courses up to 1.60m, will see 10 riders from the Mahou Trophy and a further 30 riders from the team competition secure their place in the weekend’s highlight event.
In addition to the sporting programme, LGCT Madrid will offer a wide range of entertainment for all audiences. The commercial village will feature fashion, gastronomy and family entertainment. Younger visitors will be able to enjoy the return of Pony Park, the Grupo Eulen children’s activity area, the Porsche slot-car track and many other family-friendly attractions. There will also be live music on the Mahou stage and a varied selection of food trucks.
