The Spanish riders finalize their preparation for the European Championship at the CSI Maeza
1 Jul 2025CSI Maeza 2025 will once again be a key meeting point for the elite of national equestrian sport and for young promising riders.
The fifth edition of this international competition, which will be held at the top-level facilities of Yeguada Finca Maeza, will distribute €140,000 in prize money and will include three classes counting for the FEI ranking.
As in previous years, the Asturian event will recognize local talent with two special trophies: the Mancomunidad de la Sidra Trophy, which awards the best Spanish rider in the Maeza Grand Prix, and the Sariego City Council Trophy, aimed at recognizing the best U25 rider in the entire competition.
Mancomunidad de la Sidra Trophy: the national elite in pursuit of the Maeza Grand Prix
On Sunday, the Maeza Grand Prix will take place — the main event of the weekend — where the Mancomunidad de la Sidra Trophy will be awarded to the best Spanish rider.
Among the favorites are members of the national team who will represent Spain at the upcoming European Championship in A Coruña:
Teresa Blázquez — who will also defend the title she won in last year's GP Maeza, Armando Trapote, Mariano Martínez Bastida, Iván Serrano and Hugo Álvarez Amaro.
They will be joined by other notable names from the national circuit such as: Ismael García Roque, Olympian in Paris, José Bono,Julio Arias, Jesús Garmendia, Kevin and Álvaro González de Zárate, Imma and Laura Roquet and Santiago Núñez Riva, among others.
Sariego City Council Trophy
The future of equestrian sport will also have its spotlight at CSI Maeza thanks to the Sariego City Council Trophy, which will recognize the best U25 rider of the competition.
This category will bring together young national talents such as:
Diego Ramos Maneiro, four-time Spanish champion; Olivia Álvarez García, 2024 European Junior Champion in the individual class and team silver medalist. Lucía Fernández Hidalgo and Pablo Santiago Artime, members of the junior team that won silver alongside Olivia and Izaro Junquera, 2024 Spanish Youth Champion and 2023 Children’s Champion.
The list is completed by top international riders such as:
Thibault Philippaerts (Belgium) — three-time team gold medalist at the European Young Riders Championship and winner of this trophy in the last edition; Chloe Bertolini (Italy); Mia Leal (Mexico); and Sophie Baron (USA).

Tickets, which are charitable in nature, are now available at www.csimaeza.com for €8, with free entry for children under 12.
In addition, fans from over 200 countries will be able to follow the competition live on ClipMyHorse.TV, while the Sunday Grand Prix will also be broadcast live by TPA.
