Madrid Horse Week announces the cancellation of its 2025 edition and prepares for a stronger return in 2026

26 Sep 2025

The organizers of Madrid Horse Week regret to announce the cancellation of the 2025 edition, which was scheduled for this coming November. The decision, made just weeks ahead of the planned event, is due to the inability to renew the classification as an Event of Exceptional Public Interest (EEPI)—a key status that ensures the high level and quality required for an event of this magnitude.

Nevertheless, the organization is confident that this situation will be resolved in time for the next edition, which is already being planned for 2026.

“The decision to cancel this year’s edition has been incredibly painful, especially after so many months of work and with so little time left until the scheduled date,” explains Daniel Entrecanales, Chairman of the Organizing Committee. “We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the fans who have always supported us, to our sponsors, and to the institutions that have stood by our side. The success and growth of Madrid Horse Week over more than a decade gives us the confidence that we will return in 2026 stronger and more inspired than ever.”

Along the same lines, Álvaro Arrieta, President of Oxer Sport, adds:

“Madrid Horse Week has become a must-attend event on the international equestrian calendar and a source of pride for Madrid. Having to pause this year brings us great sorrow, but also the certainty that this break will allow us to return in 2026 with a renewed project and exciting new features that will surprise the public. The support of our sponsors and institutions is the best guarantee to look toward the future with confidence.”

In this regard, Sabrina Ibáñez, Secretary General of the FEI (Fédération Équestre Internationale), stated:

“Madrid Horse Week is an important fixture on the international calendar, and although the cancellation in 2025 is a disappointment for all stakeholders—especially the Organizing Committee and the athletes—we recognize their commitment to the long-term future of the event.”

“The Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation and local institutions have also emphasized the importance of maintaining the FEI World Cup™ legs in Jumping and Dressage in Madrid.”

Since its inception in 2012, Madrid Horse Week has steadily grown to become Spain’s premier indoor equestrian event and one of the leading international showcases in the equestrian calendar. Over more than a decade, the event has brought equestrian sport closer to thousands of people, generated substantial cultural and economic impact in the city, and positioned Madrid as a global capital of equestrian sport.

This journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the institutions that have accompanied and endorsed the project: the Madrid City Council, which integrated the event into the heart of the city’s sporting and social calendar; the Community of Madrid, which helped boost its international profile and economic impact; the FEI and the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation, guarantors of sporting excellence; IFEMA Madrid, strategic partner and venue that has enabled the event’s impressive scale; and H.R.H. Infanta Doña Elena, Honorary President of the event, whose personal commitment has been a constant source of encouragement for the organizers.

In addition to these institutions, we would like to especially acknowledge the collaboration of our sponsors, whose trust and dedication have been crucial to the growth of the project: Longines, Grupo Eulen, Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio, Rodilla, Gilmar, Grupo Damm, Mutua Madrileña, ¡HOLA!, Porsche, among others. Their involvement, along with the enthusiasm and dedication of their teams, has made it possible to consolidate Madrid Horse Week as an event of excellence—open to all audiences and with a strong international reach.

The cancellation of the 2025 edition is not an end, but a pause. Madrid Horse Week is already working on preparations for its return in 2026, firmly convinced that the challenges faced so far are on their way to being resolved and confident in delivering an even stronger, more ambitious, and innovative edition.

“In 2026, we’ll be back with more strength, new proposals, and the same passion as always. We’ll soon be able to share good news confirming the continuity of a project that has become an intrinsic part of Madrid’s sporting and social calendar,” concludes Daniel Entrecanales.
