09 Jul 2026A Coruña, July 9, 2026 –
The countdown is over. The CSI A Coruña gets underway tomorrow, and equestrian fans are eagerly anticipating a weekend of world-class sport as some of the finest horse-and-rider combinations on the international show jumping circuit take centre stage at Casas Novas.
Among the leading contenders is the partnership of Eduardo Álvarez Aznar and Harlequin des Flagues, a promising nine-year-old horse already competing at the highest international level and renowned for producing fast, faultless rounds.
Also competing this weekend is the Olympic partnership of Ismael García Roque and Tirano, who represented Spain at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Another combination to watch is France's Olivier Robert and Iglesias D.V., who arrive at Casas Novas fresh from victory in last weekend's CSI Maeza 1.50m Grand Prix. Finishing runner-up in that same class was Japan's Eiken Sato aboard Campai 3, a combination that will once again compete in A Coruña.
Brazil's Marlon Modolo Zanotelli will ride Rockwell RC after recording a series of strong performances recently in Saint-Tropez, while Sweden's Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli will compete with Iron Dames Calvino II de Nyze Z, another horse expected to feature prominently in the weekend's top-level classes.
The star-studded line-up is completed by one of the sport's biggest names, Dutch rider Maikel van der Vleuten, a two-time Olympic medallist, who returns to Casas Novas with Beauville Z N.O.P.. The pair are firm crowd favourites in A Coruña and will once again be among the headline attractions this weekend.
All 130 horses entered in the competition have now arrived at the Casas Novas stables and will undergo the customary veterinary inspection today, a mandatory procedure before competition begins.
