Barcelona, October 2, 2026.- The second day of the CSIO Barcelona came to a close tonight with British rider Jessica Mendoza claiming victory in the Grand Prix Ciudad de Barcelona – Trofeo Calvet 75 Aniversario, the most important individual competition of the event. In front of a packed crowd at the Olympic arena of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona, Mendoza was the fastest in an exciting second round reserved for the twelve best combinations from the first round.

Riding In The Air, the British rider completed the course without penalties in 46.94 seconds, beating Brazil’s Rodrigo Pessoa by just 12 hundredths of a second. Pessoa finished second with Major Tom, while Ireland’s Cian O’Connor, riding Kentucky TN, completed the podium. Armando Trapote, fifth with Gin Tonic van het Gerendal Z, was the highest-placed Spanish rider.

The victory confirms Mendoza’s outstanding start to the competition, as she has now claimed two wins in the first two days of the CSIO Barcelona. The British rider also won Thursday’s Trofeo Estrella Damm, again riding In The Air.

During the break between the two rounds of the Grand Prix, Lluís Calvet, Managing Director of the real estate company Calvet, received the Joaquín Calvo Award in recognition of his strong support for the CSIO Barcelona and PoloPark, coinciding with the company’s 75th anniversary.

Nicolas Sers claims his second victory

The afternoon session had another repeat winner. French rider Nicolas Sers claimed the Trofeo La Vanguardia, a 1.45 m speed competition held in the rain, which accompanied much of the event and was particularly heavy during the opening rounds.

Riding Komet des K Z, Sers won in a time of 65.42 seconds, finishing ahead of Spain’s Álvaro González de Zárate, who was second with Casa Diva PS and the highest-placed Spanish rider. Brazilian rider Pedro Veniss, who is based in Catalonia, completed the podium with Pipeline. Sers thus secured his second victory at the CSIO Barcelona, having won the opening competition of the event on Thursday.
