Madrid, May 6, 2025 -. On the weekend of May 16-18, the most important equestrian show jumping circuit in the world returns to the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid. The Longines Global Champions Tour will bring one more year all the spectacle of Formula 1 horse racing to its iconic green track: world-class show jumping, with an excellent leisure, commercial and gastronomic proposal that has already turned the event into the most coveted plan of Madrid's spring.
The presentation of the event -which will turn the capital of Spain into the epicenter of world equestrian sport-, chaired by the Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida, has gathered this morning at the City Hall in Plaza de Cibeles numerous personalities from the equestrian world, among others: Javier Revuelta, president of the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation; and Álvaro Arrieta, president of Oxer Sport.

During the presentation at the consistory, the retirement of 'Rokfeller de Pleville Bois Margot', the faithful partner in the ring of the rider Eduardo Álvarez Aznar for 13 years, who will leave the competition forever at the end of this competition, was announced.

Rokfeller, a brown horse of 1'64 meters and weighing about 600 kilos, is the riding star with which Álvarez Aznar has cemented his solid position among the best riders in the world. Thanks to his extraordinary muscular quality and the economy of his jumps, he has been able to compete in top-level events, from Olympic Games to World Cups, until he was 20 years old, a very high age for a competition horse.

During the weekend of the 114th CSI 5* Madrid, Roki, as the rider affectionately calls this 20-year veteran winner, will have the opportunity to say goodbye and receive the affection and gratitude of the Madrid public at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, after a career full of success, emotion and effort that has led him to become a legend in Spanish and world equestrian sports. However, it will be on Sunday, before the celebration of the CSI 5*, when the farewell will be made official with an emotional act in the green track.
José Luis Martínez Almeida, who assures that the farewell of Rokfeller on Sunday is marked in red in his agenda, has highlighted that this event is “a very exclusive event from the point of view of sporting excellence, but at the same time it is also an event open to everyone, with various proposals and attractions to accompany the competition. The support of the Madrid City Council is not only a support for the repercussion, but also a support in appreciation of this international competition”, he explained.

For his part, Javier Revuelta, president of the RFHE, dedicated a few words of thanks “to the organizing committee, Oxer Sport, and the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, for their magnificent facilities and the state in which they keep them, to the sponsors and especially to the City Council of Madrid and its mayor, without whose support this competition would not be possible”.

Álvaro Arrieta, president of Oxer Sport, said that the fact that Spain has this LGCT venue and that we have achieved this alliance with Madrid is fortunate for all of us. In addition, this year we have broken the barrier of one million euros, we will distribute 1,066,000 euros in the 15 official tests, which together with the quality of the facilities, guarantees that the best riders will be here. That is to say, at a sporting level we can't ask for more”.
