Completing the podium were French Philippe Rozier and Australian Edwina Alexander.
Current number 15 in the international ranking, Brazilian Rodrigo Pessoa, was the winner at today’s first CSI5* competition, El Corte Inglés Trophy, which has gathered some of the best riders of the world.
Riding Palouchin de Lingny, Pessoa has made an excellent round without any penalization and in the least amount of time of all competitors, 49.03 seconds. This fault & time class has helped to warm-up for the only competition that counts towards the GCT ranking that will take place tomorrow, the GP Spain- Banco Sabadell Trophy and which he will face with great expectations with his mount Let’s Fly.
Pessoa showed his satisfaction after finishing the class “starting with a victory lifts anyone spirits for the next few days” – he pointed out, besides expressing that the venue of Valencia “it is a very nice setting, different, refreshing, with an excellent set-up and great weather”.
Scarcely over a second behind, French Philippe Rozier managed second place riding Ideal de Roy, while Australian Edwina Alexander, current number 9 in the ranking of the International Equestrian Federation, completed the podium with mare Mel D’Argences.
The best Spanish rider in show jumping, Sergio Álvarez Moya, has managed eighth position with his mount Sirius.
During the lap of Honor, the public was also able to see American rider Richard Spooner and Irish Denis Lynch, who placed fourth and fifth respectively.
