PIUS SCHWIZER WINS THE TELEFONICA GRAND PRIX

After what proved to be a very tight two rounds without jump-off competition, the prize of tonight´s Telefónica Grand Prix landed in the hands of Swiss rider Pius Schwizer. Thijssen, Regter and Grimaldi the other winners of the day.
The Irish rider Jessica Kürten came in second (45.69) with her mare Castle Forbes Myrtille Paulois. The third position went to Pedro Veniss from Brazil (45.87) and his Chesnut gelding Lester Vador. Another Swiss, Hansueli Sprunger and his gelding Kepi De Valse were fourth (48.99) and the fifth position went to the Dutch rider Vincent Voorn and his mount Audi´s Alpapillon – Armanie (49.80).
This is not Pius Schwizer´s first win in CSI Coruña, and it is the second time he receives the Telefónica Grand Prix, the first time being back in 2007 and riding his “Top horse” as he himself likes to refer to it: Nobless M.
He also declared to be very pleased to be taking part in this Casas Novas Horse Show, a show he considers to be among the best in the world.
THE DUO LEON THIJSSEN AND ULENA WINNERS OF THE CSI CORUÑA LA CAIXA TROPHY
After a tight competition in which the Brazilian rider Alvaro de Miranda Nieto with Ad Norsson seemed the most likely winners, the Dutch rider Leon Thijssen along with his brown mare Ulena managed to reap the first prize after a thrilling 47.16 seconds clear round.
The second place went to Brazilian rider Alvaro de Miranda Nieto and his brown stallion Ad Norsson (47.32), Jessica Kürten from Ireland riding Castle Forbes Cosma (48.50) came in third closely followed by French rider Caroline Nicolas and Oxford D’Esquelmes (48.99) in fourth place and Gregory Wathelet from Belgium riding Crushing Z finished in the fifth position (49.53).
This will be Mr Thijssen´s third Grand Prix this year, he said that tonight´s success he owed to his magnificent horse´s great performance.
PROSEGUR TROPHY AND LEXUS TROPHY
The amateur Dutch rider Chantal Regter 22 and her jumping partner, the Stallion Eurocommerce Vigo scorched to victory in today´s Prosegur Trophy, a Table A competition against the clock. They completed a clear round in just 58.97 seconds. The Lexus Trophy was won by th Italian rider, Eugenio Grimaldi, that is his second victory after winning the inaugural of the opening day.
