Great Spanish representatives at the podium at the first CSI 2* competitions that took place this morning at the City of the Arts and Sciences in Valencia with the beginning of the Third GP Spain- Banco Sabadell Trophy, Spanish venue of the Global Champions Tour.
Leonardo Medal has been the clear protagonist winning the Valencia 2011 Capital Europea del Deporte Trophy as well as the RTVV Trophy.
At the Valencia 2011 Capital Europea del Deporte Trophy, Medal has managed to finish the round without any points riding mare Capella de Manzaneda. With 47.96 seconds, he became victorious. In second position with 50.17 seconds there has been a tide between Gonzalo Anón and American Caitling Ziegler.
A completely Spanish podium the one at the RTVV Trophy, leaded once again by Leonardo Medal, riding Unico, putting in a time of 46.65 seconds. A few hundredths behind, José Bono has obtained a well deserved second place thanks to the work together with his horse Navaros that allowed him to close in 46,68 seconds. Third position was taken by young seventeen year-old Gonzalo Añón riding Andor, in 48.38 seconds.
At the Inaugural Trophy, British Lauley Squibb riding mare Lara Joy II has made an excellent round, clean and quick, for which she became the absolute winner of the class. Squibb has put in a record time of 47.02 seconds, unbeatable for Spanish Luis Cabanas and Pedro Pons who placed second and third, respectively. Cabanas, riding Irresistible, has put in a time of 56.58 seconds, while Pedro Pons with his horse Romeo Du Rouet has ended the round in 57.29 seconds.
THIS AFTERNOON, HIGH LEVEL COMPETITIONS
Starting at 3.00 pm there will take place the first high level competitions, Concurso de Salto Internacional 5*, which will gather the best international riders and amazons.
El Corte Inglés Trophy will start at 3.00 pm and the NH Hoteles Trophy will begin at 6.00 pm.
The most long-awaited class of the entire weekend for being the only one that counts towards the Global Champions Tour ranking will take place tomorrow at 4.00 pm with the GP Spain -Banco Sabadell Trophy.
