GERMAN DANIEL DEUSSER WINS THE REPSOL TROPHY
09/05/2010
Frenchmen Philippe Rozier and Simón Delestre take second and third place, respectively. Carlota Vilarrubí and José Bono were successful at the CSI 2* morning competitions.
Victory for the 27 year old rider Daniel Deusser, who has won the Repsol Trophy, today’s first CSI 5* competition.
When it almost seemed impossible to beat French Philippe Rozier’s time, Deusser managed to close with the best time, riding swift mare Vonka A in 49.49 seconds.
Daniel himself, who ranks nineteenth at the Rolex, has acknowledged the excellent job done by Vonka A: “Unlike the previous classes, today the mare has responded very well, has made me feel secure, and that gave us the victory”.
Two Frenchmen have completed the podium. Riding Ideal de Roy, Philippe Rozier put in a time of 51.09 seconds, which gave him a well deserved second place. The winner of the El Corte Inglés Trophy, Simón Delestre, took third place on Orphee de L’Illon in 51.17 seconds.
SPANISH CARLOTA VILARRUBÍ AND JOSÉ BONO JR. STAR ONCE AGAIN IN THE CSI 2* MORNING COMPETITIONS
New achievement for Carlota Vilarrubí at the Trofeo Revista Ecuestre, the first CSI 2* morning competition. Riding Meggy Du Mont, Vilarrubí placed second and could not defeat British Florence Bellm who became the winner.
Riding Old Mill Alibi, Bellm put in a time of 51.06 seconds while Vilarrubí remained only 30 hundredths behind. Eugenio Grimaldi completed the podium with his horse Maistro in a time of 52.24 seconds.
Double Spanish victory, however, at the Trofeo Mercedes-Benz, in which José Bono was able to go up the podium as the winner followed by Juan Riva.
After a first round, four riders went for the jump-off, and with his marvelous horse Navaros and in a time of 28.54 seconds, Bono took the win, followed by Juan Riva on Racing, finishing with 28.76 seconds. British Lauley Squibb place third riding Lara Joy II in 29.30 seconds.
